Ways to grow your Instagram marketing skills exponentially in 2020.

Instagram can be extremely useful for brands and businesses looking for active and highly engaged users to market to.

Even though Instagram offers a massive opportunity, not many companies are excelling in their Instagram marketing.

In order to succeed in using Instagram as a social media platform for marketing, then you need to learn how to grow your followers organically.

Whilst gaining general followers for your Instagram may not seem that hard-depending on the type of accounts you’re following – gaining followers who are of higher quality to you; seeing as they are highly likely to purchase your product and are in your niche, can be very challenging.

You want to gain genuine interest that will be of greater value to your business.

Finding the right users and attracting them legitimately can be very time-consuming and confusing.

Many brands may use applications that specifically help in simplifying the user search and attraction process.

Follow these tips to aid in growing your brands Instagram presence and really utilizing the platform.

1. Get to know your target audience
Your target audience will shape every piece of content you make and therefore, will make it a lot easier to strategize for your Instagram.

Therefore, Instagram target audience research should be the first thing you do when creating your strategy.

It may seem obvious, but you need to create a more in depth analysis of your target audience than you may think.

Once you have found your target audience you will not only understand how to create better content more suited to this audience but you will also understand what captions to write, what time of the day to post etc.

Actionable insights into your audience’s interests, preferences and behavior pave the road to a successful Instagram strategy.

To help you learn more about your target audience, use Instagram’s search feature by using keywords directly related to your brand/ products. You can:

·       Search by hashtags: Find your audience in just 5-10 minutes.

·       Search by location.

·       Search by hashtags and location combination.

You can do this by going to the search area of Instagram and using specifically “tags” or “places” in order to find locations and hashtags that have been used by people with similar interests or queries on Instagram that you are looking for, for your business.

2. conduct an in-depth research of your competitor’s
Your competitors have the same target audience as you and they might have already done a lot of the hard work for you so why not use this to your advantage.

Your direct competitors will likely have a very similar target audience to your business, so by looking at who they follow, the hashtags they use and who their followers are, you can gain insight on how to find and connect with your target audience.

Users who have connected with your competitors have shown that they have an interest in your niche area.

Look through your competitors Instagram accounts;

·       Followers

·       Followings

·       Likers

·       Commenters

Looking at these will give you a greater insight into who you should target and will make it easier for you when starting out.

3. Find Influencers & Promote Your Account With Their Help
By only using traditional digital marketing (SEO, PPC, social media, etc.) then you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to increase your ROI.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an agency, brand, or business – everyone can benefit from trying influencer marketing.

Influencers have a relationship with their audiences that can allow for their followers to trust their judgement over products, more than they may trust a business itself.

A product that an influencer recommends is similarly perceived as a product recommended by a friend.

When it comes to collaborating with influencers as a brand, authenticity should be one of the most important factors to consider.

However, not all influencers have a genuine influence over the majority of their followers, so you need to find influencers whose influence on their followers is authentic.

For example, Michael Kors has a huge Instagram following on social media today and this is because they have influencer campaign’s with women who reflect H&M’s style.

Fashion, beauty and lifestyle logger Sammy Robinson is one influencer that’s campaigning with Michael Kors.

There are several ways to find influencers related to your niche.

By looking at your competitors and what influencers are working with them, you may be able to find influencers who would be interested in campaigning with you in your niche.

You can also look up hashtags within your niche and see who’s been tagging keywords relating to your business and competitors.

You can do the same thing by looking at location.

Remember that it’s necessary to sort the results by the number of followers, likes, and comments. Instagram accounts appearing at the top after sorting are your potential influencers.

But before working with any of the influencers you found, take some time to truly research them and their social media presence. Beyond these follow numbers:

·       Does their audience actually care about what these influencers are saying?

·       What level of engagement are they getting on their content?

·       What other brands have they collaborated with? What were the campaigns like?

4. Be as Active as possible.
Unlike what you may think, social media is actually more about the engagement and activity around your posts than the number of comments and likes that you receive.

You’d be surprised how many companies searching for Instagram growth just forget this simple social part of social media marketing.

Posting the correct content all the time will attract new attention for your business from your target audience, however the conversations you have with these people will be what converts these users into loyal brand advocates.

By answering a question in the comments section or responding to a direct message you will build deeper relationships with your followers.

Once you have built some sort of audience, you’ll be able to gain user generated content (UGC) from your audience. This can be by asking audience members to use a # specific to your brand when posting content that has your products in it. Or by creating competitions that allow customers to create UGC and have the chance to win a prize.

Instagram allows brands to experiment. If you to be a relevant brand, take a risk and try every new Instagram feature such as Instagram Stories, Instagram Live, and Question Stickers.

Also, try to use all of the different Instagram features, like stories, IGTV, Instagram Live etc. This will show you’re followers that you’re up to date with Instagram trends.

By always connecting and interacting with your audience, Instagram will push your content so that it is seen by your audience members more often.

When you have a good engagement, Instagram starts to promote your content in the Top posts section and the Explore feed.

So while Instagram may seem like a numbers game; In gaining as many followers as possible, it is also really important that you focus on building long-lasting relationships with these customers in order to gain their trust and make them long-time customers.
